Careers Day at THT for Year 6 – 25th May 2022

Wow! What an action-packed day Key Stage 2 had yesterday with our very first careers day. The day started off with an exciting assembly delivered by Charlotte Iddon from Virtual schools looking at jobs for life, careers in the future and skills that might be needed.

The children then took part in 8 different workshops run by various professionals.
In the morning, children completed a careers personality quiz, undertook various science experiments using microscopes and chromatography, make gloop from cornflour and water, examined x-rays, used stethescopes, otoscopes and thermometers and produced advertising press releases. Then in the afternoon, they undertook biomedical science experiments, turned their hand to engineering, thought about the qualities and skills involved in becoming a vicar and discovered what it took to work for the fire brigade, including having a go at crawling through small spaces. Take a look through the photos! These are Year 6’s…
A huge thank you to Charlotte Iddon from LCC Virtual Schools, Suzanne Conway from Tarleton Academy, Katy O’Hara a local GP, Kim Rushton from BAE systems, Victoria Travis a Biomedical Scientist, Maria Rogers and Rebecca Wood from Leyland Trucks, Daniel Abraham our ordinand and Emma Price and Graham Jamieson from the Fire Brigade for volunteering your time and organising such an exciting experience for our children. Thank you to the Teachers and TAs for your hard work in organising this.
