Our 2024 Chess Champion…

Mrs Lancaster started the THT Chess club way back in September 2023.

Now that the children are all confident with playing chess, over the last few weeks, Mrs Lancaster has run a competition to find the best chess player in each Year Group.

This then led to semi finals and today, at lunchtime, it was time for the Grand Final.

After a 23 minute match, Leo from Year 3 got his opponent into checkmate and became THT’s 2024 Chess Champion!! We presented him with his winner’s trophy – but will present it again in front of the whole school during this Friday’s Celebration Worship!!

Well done Leo – I don’t know whether THT has had any Chess Champions in the past – but he’s definitely the first since 2013!!
