A Catholic Visitor to Year 6 – 14th January 2019

Ms Meehan, a friend of Mr Marshall’s came to speak to Year 6 today – all about the Roman Catholic Faith…

She was brought up a Catholic and attends her own church as well as St John’s CE Church in Burscough.

She came into Yera 6 to discuss how important Mary (the Mother of Jesus) is to Catholics.

Did you know that Catholics have many names for Mary? They also pray to Jesus through Mary…and there is a special ‘Mary Prayer’ called ‘Hail Mary’ which are said when handling a string of beads called a Rosary. Ms Meehan let Year 6 handle the beads during a relection time.

Year 6 also learned that Mary is important to Muslims and Mary is the only woman mention in the Qu’ran.  She is mentioned more time in the Qu’ran that she is in the New Testament of the Bible!!
